The Cretan House
Here, the visitor enters as if crossing the threshold of an old Cretan home. At the center stands the "parastia " the hearth where the fire once burned – the heart of the house, around which the family’s scents, stories, and shared moments were shaped.
Around it unfolds a small world made of everyday objects that preserve the memory of another era: the copper utensils that gleamed in the firelight, the clay vessels that stored oil, water, and wine, the dish rack with neatly arranged plates decorating the wall, the woven textiles that brought warmth and color, the wooden tools that speak of a handmade life, filled with care.
Each object here seems to hold the echo of those who once used it: the small rituals of cooking, the family conversations, the simplicity and wisdom of Cretan daily life. It is a space that does not merely display a collection; it narrates a way of life in which practicality met beauty, and tradition became part of every everyday moment.
