About us
Diakriton is a private initiative founded by three young individuals with deep roots in Crete.
Driven by a shared vision and a profound love for their homeland and its rich history, they set out to breathe new life into a remarkable historical and ethnographic collection.
The founders of Diakriton recognized in this collection a unique opportunity to create—consciously and with dedication—a channel of communication and a bridge between past and future. Their aim is to pass on to the new generation of visitors the knowledge, values, and traditional techniques of earlier times.
Their approach, however, goes beyond merely reproducing or showcasing the past. Diakriton seeks to inspire young people to engage with tradition through a contemporary lens, highlighting the concepts of ecology and sustainability inherent in traditional methods. Their purpose is to encourage visitors to shape their own modern interpretation of tradition—an interpretation that carries within it the history, philosophy, and values of the past, thus keeping our cultural heritage alive, relevant, and responsibly sustained.
